Sport Radio

You Can't Be a True Sports Fanatic If You Don't Have Satellite

Sport Radio
Exsecutive summary about By  John R. Harrison
A true fanatic would rather watch the 1973 Super Bowl on one of the random ESPN channels, rather than watch any new CSI or Mad Men. With cable, there is only enough programming for the amateur sports fan. Satellite, on the other hand, offers five or more ESPNs, the Big Ten Network, CBS College Sports and the Tennis Channel. If mainstream isn't your thing, try the Outdoor Channel, the Sportsman Channel or Speed. Not to mention you still get all those channels that cable offers: TNT, TBS, USA, the Golf Channel, Fox Sports, etc. In addition to ESPN Classic, you'll find that all the other sports channels mentioned above will turn every day into game day. It offers more NFL games than any other service available on the market. Stop depriving it of non-stop, around the clock sports action.
Satellite can be hooked up and installed before tomorrow night's game.

Satellite Radio is a New Celebrity Hangout
Exsecutive summary about By  Bob Maines
People immediately link the SIRIUS and XM brand names with a celebrity they know and possibly like. Who are some of the most prominent names that have been dealing with SIRIUS and XM? Van Zandt created two channels in the Underground Garage, which is a garage rock sub-genre, as well as Outlaw Country, with a slant towards alternative Country music. SIRIUS has even gone after experienced, well-known deejays like Cousin Brucie, Joe Causi and Richard Blade. Experienced political commentators like Bill Press, Michael Reagan, Bill Bennett, Mike Malloy, and G. Gordon Liddy have all graced the network with their seasoned presence.
How about comedy? Fox also presents a whole host of top comedians, comedy skits, showcase music and Radio Theater. When it comes to celebrity endorsements, satellite radio has a line up comparable to network television.

Live Football Streaming

Watching Live Football on Television

Exsecutive summary about By   Damien Cronley
When the satellite and cable TV companies came along it revolutionised the way people were able to watch football on television. These companies negotiated with the football authorities to secure exclusive rights for screening live action. For many years, fans enjoyed watching live football on television via the terrestrial channels such as ITV and the BBC. The satellite and cable TV companies changed all that and developed subscription packages aimed at football supporters and sports fans.

If people do not have access to live football at home, they can choose to watch live matches at their local pub. Pubs are astute enough to realise the benefit of screening live football which increases their own revenue.
There is stiff competition among television companies whenever the television rights deal is up for renewal. The successful company will pay a huge amount of money in return for rights to screen live football. This limits the opportunities for watching live football on television.

Football Training

Defensive Backs Football Training - Stripping the Football

Today we are seeing more defensive backs stripping the football from receivers. It has become a football skill unto itself, requiring corners, line backers and safeties training and practicing drills to hone their ball stripping football skills.
More coaches are teaching the art of stripping the football, running practice drills with the defensive players, teaching them how stripping the football is done. When the defenders are successful at stripping the football from the receiver, the ball comes out. Training the D-Back for stripping the football requires two basic sets of football skills.
Football Skills for Stripping the Football:
Football skills for stripping the football begin with the proper mind set and attitude. If the ball is thrown over the receivers left shoulder, the left arm is the point of attack, just as if the ball arrives over the receivers right shoulder, attack the right arm.
Football Training
Practice Drills for Stripping the Football:
The first ball stripping practice drill should start with the receiver and the defender being stationary. The " reach-and-pull' technique is where the receiver stands back to the defensive back holding the ball on either side, the defensive back reaches out (left arm to left arm, right arm to right arm) and pulls the arm holding the ball downward stripping the football from the receiver.
Which arm the defensive back should attack and the football skills needed to strip the football from the receiver's hands.
In this drill the receiver and defensive back typically face the sideline, the defensive back about 10 yards away from the receiver. Using his attack arm the defensive back should be reach out and pulling the ball carrying arm down, dislodging the football. In conclusion stripping the football requires both physical and mental football skills.
Football Speed Training Myths

Oh, the myths that surround how to get faster for football...they seem to never end. Where the hell did we go so wrong when it comes to football speed training? Why is it so complicated to answer the simple question, "How do I get Faster for Football? When did it become acceptable to pass off the hard work that entails training for football speed and replace it with pseudo-hard cone drills and gadgets?
Football speed is about strength. Football speed is NOT track speed. Re-read that...Football Speed is NOT Track Speed. Getting faster for football is not the same as getting faster for track.
The reason is that we run in a perfect straight line, in perfect form, in perfect conditions how many times per game? There is an entire industry set up to separate players and coaches from their money by promising quick fixes, gimmicks, and perpetuating old myths about football speed training so that you remain weak, slow and broke.
Time to get down and dirty and blow some of these football speed training myths out of the water:
Agility Drills Improve Football Agility
Agility drills do improve your agility...in agility drills. NOT on the football field.
If you want to improve foot speed so you're actually faster on the football field, try some Clean and Jerks or even the basic Jump Rope. 2. Lifting Heavy Slows You Down
This is the maybe the oldest of all football speed training myths. We all know that if you apply max force to the bar, even if that sucker is moving slow, the intent to move it quickly will improve both your strength and speed. It trains your nervous system (brain) to be fast even with heavy weights.
To increase speed it is necessary to increase the magnitude or duration of the force applied (or both), or decrease the mass of the body. Consequently, only one recourse remains, namely to increase strength. Maximum strength is the main factor determining speed of movement!

College Football

College Football

Exsecutive summary about By Dorrie Ruplinger
College football is getting to be as popular as professional football. In some areas of the country, college football is a lot more popular than NFL football. The AP poll and the USA Today polls are the most common polls used by the general public. College football has been around a long time. The first intercollegiate college football game was played on November 6, 1869. The score of the game was 6-4. The game played that day was much different than college football as we know it today. During that first game each team had 25 players. The rules of the game were more similar to rugby than to modern day football. The rules for that day's game were adopted from the rules of the London Football Association. The game of football evolved over time. In 1876 the large playing field was changed also. Early football was a vicious game. Changes in the rules, how the game was scored, and in the ball itself in the 1930's helped the game gain popularity.
College Football
Today, over 135 years after the first intercollegiate college football game was played, there are over 600 collegiate football teams in the United States.
College Football is the Most Passionate Sport - 17 Reasons Why

Exsecutive summary about By Mike P Weaver
College football creates and instills more passion out of players, coaches, and most definitely fans than any other American sport. EVERY game matters. I've seen plenty of playoff bound NFL teams sleepwalk through games. You simply will not see this type of play in the college ranks. You can't tell there are more rivalries in any other sport besides college football. Let's face it - Michigan and Ohio State might be the best rivalry that exists in all of sports. Walk a college campus the week before a huge game. Let's face it. Tradition is littered across the college football landscape. It loiters on the street corners, in pre-game festivities, in half-time marching band performances, in post-game rituals, each big rivalry game brings countless traditions.

Loyalty to a certain team may run for generations in a family. Money money money! No 23 year old millionaires with bling bling on these teams. The college atmosphere. Let's do some quick phrase association - crisp fall Saturday:college football; tailgating on campus:college football; over 110,000 fans:Michigan Stadium; marching band traditions:college football. The stadiums. More games. There are 32 NFL teams. Live mascots. Unfortunately, Michigan doesn't boast a live wolverine on gameday. Walk-ons. Game Trophies. The Little Brown Jug - Michigan vs. Minnesota; The Paul Bunyan Axe - Michigan vs. Michigan State; are two to name a few. Teams all over college football each Saturday often play for a trophy that oozes tradition in that particular series. Now, living in Dayton, OH - on any given Saturday I could spend less than $40 and go to any of these campuses: Michigan, Michigan State, Cincinnati, Indiana, any one of ten MAC teams, Notre Dame, Purdue, Louisville, Kentucky, Penn State, etc. Everything about the infrastructure of college football sets up a season full of justifying your team's record, ranking, or bowl matchup. What it also does, it maintains the relevance of the college football season in December when teams are preparing for their bowl games.

Soccer

Beating a Player in Soccer

Soccer
1. ANGLE OF APPROACH

As the player with the ball approaches the defender, he needs to look for the space he wants to exploit. Remember to dribble with the head up. Then the player attacks the defender with such an angle of approach away from the desired space so that he makes the desired space even bigger.

For example, if the player is going down the right wing and wants to go past the defender on the outside, he should approach the defender at a diagonal away from the touch line so that he makes the space between the defender and the touchline even bigger. This will also put the defender on their weaker foot as well.

2. SPEED OF APPROACH

The player with the ball should not run at the defender at top speed because this will make controlling the ball more difficult and there will be no opportunity to accelerate away from the defender.

Instead approach the defender at roughly 75% speed, fast enough to put the defender under pressure and fast enough to stop his teammates regrouping, but the player needs to have some extra speed available once he has beaten the defender with a move so that he can accelerate away.

3. THE MOVE or DRIBBLE

Too many young players want to learn every possible move and want to show them off in a game whether they are needed or not.

Instead the player should perfect a couple of moves they can use with both feet and can use to go both inside and outside of the defender.

4. EXPLOIT THE SPACE CREATED

The whole reason for dribbling and producing a move is to create space past the defender that can be exploited.

Remember once the move has been completed, the player must immediately move the ball into the space created and accelerate away into the desired space. Do not give the defender time to recover.

5. THE END PRODUCT

The idea beating a player is to produce an end product such as a shot, a pass or run with the ball and keep possession Many players beat a player successfully then don’t produce, instead they end up having to beat the player again.

Remember, beat the player and go for a quick and accurate shot, if that is not on, play a quick and accurate pass, if that is not on, run with the ball creating space and time and wait to produce either a shot or a pass.

Have players practice these important steps so that they come naturally, can be carried out with the head up and that when the player receives the ball, he is confident and wants to take on the defender.

Fantasy Football

Fantasy football: Is it time to panic in Week 4 with some of the top-tier picks?

Fantasy football bust.

Nothing strikes fear in the heart of fantasy owners quite like those three little words. Every year, leagues are littered with players who were highly touted and highly drafted during the summer. Think Randy Moss, DeAngelo Williams and Ryan Mathews of 2010.
Those same type of players are out there this year. Through three weeks of the 2011 season, there are several high-profile candidates too. Some of these guys will turn it around and salvage fantasy seasons for their owners. Others will send their fantasy owners to the cellar.

Should you hold on to or panic about the following 10 players after three weeks?

1. Chris Johnson, RB, Titans: Johnson is averaging 2.1 yards per carry through three games and has yet to cross the end zone. Clearly, something is not right here. Perhaps it is the new coaching scheme or the revitalized passing game. Or maybe it is the fact that Johnson held out all of the preseason and needs more time to get going. Whatever it is, Johnson owners should be very concerned right now.

Verdict: Hold.

Paul Sakima / Associated PressFor those who drafted Frank Gore in the first couple of rounds, it's looking like it might be time to look for a replacement.

2. Frank Gore, RB, 49ers: Another running back who sought a new contract during the offseason, Gore is off to a prodding start this year (much like his running style). To make matters worse, rookie running back Kendall Hunter is pushing for playing time and looks like the more explosive runner right now. Couple that with Gore’s injury history (already has a sprained ankle) and you have a recipe for disaster in fantasy leagues.
Fantasy Football
Verdict: Panic!

3. Antonio Gates, TE, Chargers: Fantasy owners knew what they were getting into with Gates. He pretty much is questionable every week. When he does get out there, he usually plays well. Perhaps, though, the injuries finally have caught up to Gates, one of the toughest players in the league. His run as the best fantasy football tight end looks to be over.

Verdict: Panic!

4. Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Steelers: There are a few problems with him. Most importantly, his running style. For whatever reason, Mendenhall appears to be doing more dancing behind the line than ever before and less hitting the hole with power. Also, the Steelers’ offensive line is a mess. I was a big fan of Mendenhall this offseason; thankfully, I only drafted him in one league.

Verdict: Hold.

5. DeSean Jackson, WR, Eagles: Nothing looks different for Jackson. He has the same quarterback, looks explosive on the field and has been healthy, but he just is not getting the looks. And to be honest, Michael Vick has not been that great this season (read: completion percentage), and him coming back to average in terms of accuracy is a bad thing for Jackson, who benefited strongly from Vick’s great 2010 campaign.

Verdict: Hold.

6. Michael Vick, QB, Eagles: Speaking of Vick, last year he completed nearly 63 percent of his passes. His career average is 55 percent. This year? 59 percent. So while he is doing better than average, it is a step down. Add in all the injury concerns through three weeks (concussion, bruised hand) and there is enough here to worry about Vick’s fantasy outlook the rest of the season.

Verdict: Slight panic.

7. DeAngelo Williams, RB, Panthers: Someone explain to me why the Panthers paid Williams all that money this summer to not use him? The coaching staff said they need to get him more involved, but right now I would rather own Jonathan Stewart in this backfield.

Verdict: Panic!

8. Arian Foster, RB, Texans: Foster was able to practice Wednesday and Coach Gary Kubiak said he should be good to go the rest of the season. With hamstring injuries, though, there are lingering concerns. Hopefully, Foster got the requisite amount of rest and rehab and is ready to give his owners the finish to the season they hoped to get from the start.

Verdict: Hold.

9. Shonn Greene, RB, Jets: Talk about a prodding running back. Not only have his numbers been pedestrian, but the offensive philosophy has changed. Mark Sanchez is throwing for more yards and even vultured a short-yardage touchdown from Greene in Week 3. LaDainian Tomlinson still is a factor, as well.

Verdict: Panic!

10. Michael Turner, RB, Falcons: The last of the prodding running backs on this list, Turner could be great one week and terrible the next. He got stuffed by the Buccaneers last weekend and is going to cost his owners games seemingly every other week.

Verdict: Panic!

Just missed: Steven Jackson, RB, Rams; Knowshon Moreno, RB, Broncos; Matt Ryan, QB, Falcons; Reggie Wayne, WR, Colts; Mike Williams, WR, Buccaneers.

Sporting Goods

Sporting Goods Effective Email Marketing

Over the past couple of years, investigate has one after another to infer the benefits of e-mail selling for business: low costs, high conversion rates and minute tracking are all important features. But e-mail selling is apropos ample more than only a apparatus for spammers and e-businesses. Consumers are apropos increasingly savvy on the differences between spam and permission-based emails, and more and more of them are accepting permission-based e-mail selling as a certain deputy for send mail.

The most appropriate headlines is that the majority of people who take permission-based e-mails open, on average, 78% of them.

Jupiter Research reports efficient email selling campaigns can create 9 times the revenues and 18 times the increase of announce mailings. But crafting an efficient business email is both an art and a science. Here is a list of factors, prospective problems and efficient solutions to keep in mind:

1. Spam! Spam! Spam! we do not need any Viagra!

The median consumer receives more than 300 emails a week, 62% of that are spam. No consternation there’s such animosity towards the industry. But spam filters, bulk folders and “report spam” features are assisting consumers turn more at ease about the perils of spam. While 89% of users cited spam as a leading regard in 2003, that number forsaken to 85% in 2004, proportionally to an increase in the use of spam-fighting tools.

So as a permission-based business email marketer, what can you do? One tip is to remind your subscribers to add you to their “safe senders” list. The second, and most important, tactic is to ensure your email selling service provider has a great attribute with ISPs. This will ensure that your email selling campaigns go in to your subscribers’ inboxes, not their junk letter folders. When selecting an email selling software, ensure the firm has despotic anti-spam policies and complies with the discipline of Can-Spam.

Sporting Goods

2. Images and formatting: Why do my emails look broken?

Broken email campaigns are an stepping up regard amid email marketers, particularly since a few companies and web-based email providers right away inhibit graphics as a portion to war spam. In fact, according to ClickZ, 40% of email selling messages delivered to inboxes are “broken.”

So what’s the solution? Some email selling programs tell all your sent email campaigns to a secure place on the web (a place only initial recipients of the email can access, interjection to encrypted technology that automatically authenticates the user). In some programs, the technology moreover ensures you can follow your users’ behaviors, even if they are getting more information your email promotion at the secure web location.

3. Personalization and applicable content: In a business e-mail, one size does not fit all.

In a new study by DoubleClick, email users were 72% more expected to reply to a business e-mail if its calm was formed on the interests they had specified. That number points out the unambiguous significance of permitting users to select their own fascination groups and have manage over that business e-mails they receive. The most renouned fascination categories, according to the study, are coupons and domicile goods.

But you’re banking is no great unless the user opens the email. Users in the study mentioned the most convincing reason for them to open a business email is the name in the “from” field. So it’s a great thought to ensure your firm name is evidently settled there. Another leading reason is the “subject” line. Users quote bonus offers and engaging headlines as the most convincing theme lines, followed by new product announcements and giveaway shipping offers.

4. Click-through and conversion: Show me the money!

So the user has non-stop your email and read the content. Great. But where’s the sale? There’s great headlines here. For one, consumers are increasingly expected to make purchases as a send outcome of a business email campaign. One-third of users in the DoubleClick study had purchased something by clicking a link on an email. Another 42% clicked on an email link for more information, then purchased the product at a after that time. Second, online couponing is booming: 73% of consumers have redeemed an online banking for an online purchase, and 59% have redeemed an online banking offline.

In conditions of industries, the tip performers are travel, hardware/software, electronics, apparel, food, home furnishings, gifts/flowers and sporting goods. All companies sending business emails in the categories mentioned between 71% and 80% of recipients have purchased their products since an email campaign.

There’s no must be tatter if your firm doesn’t fit in to one of the industries. The on the whole landscape for email selling conversions is seeking brighter every day. The median click-to-purchase rate has increased scarcely 30% since 2004 and the median orders-per-email-delivered rate has increased more than 18% since final year.

5. Stats tracking: Who are my actual consumers?

E-mail selling is an increasingly renouned apparatus in efficient CRM, and it’s about time more businesses agree to that. First off, if your provider’s email services for business do not add detailed, real-time tracking, you’re getting a tender deal. Real-time tracking is right away an attention standard, and it’s rarely valuable, as it allows you to see the expect short time a user opens your campaign, clicks on your link and creates that purchase. Studying your users can help you upgrade your communications efforts, so any promotion performs improved than the final (several email service providers moreover let you compare the opening of your campaigns).

But many marketers are still in the dark. According to a new WebTrends research, only 5% of marketers are really assured in the dimensions of their online selling efforts, whilst 26% confess they’re “flying blind.” WebTrends says the low certainty comes from a insufficient of ability when it comes to measurement, that means there’s still a lot of work to be done.

In email marketing, a blind shot won’t take you really far. But if you target accurately by subsequent to these necessary manners of play, you should shortly be reaping the same leading results as so many online and offline businesses.

Football Speed

Football Speed

By Patrick Beith

This is the time of the season where I am sure that you are asked the same question over and over. 'How do I run a faster 40?'
Here are the Top 7 Tips to be able to increase your 40 yard time dramatically without having to run a step. Part I will focus on the starting position in the 40 yard dash.

Starting Position
Tip 1 – Foot Placement

The start of your 40 yard is extremely important since it sets up your entire run. You want to put yourself in the best position possible to be able to explode off of the line.
You must first determine your 'quick' leg and your 'power/strong' leg. An easy way to determine your “quick” side vs. your “power” side, fold your arms in front of you. The hand that is tucked under your bicep/armpit is your quick side arm. If your left hand is tucked under, your right leg is your “quick” leg.
Your quick leg is going to be in the back position when starting in a 3-point stance and your power leg will be in front. The front leg is going to be the leg that is really starting the initial drive out so you want your strongest and most powerful leg in front.
Technically, the distance between the front foot (power leg) and the starting line should be approximately 55-60% of your leg length. The distance between feet should be shin length, which is about 42-45% of total leg length. A simpler and equally effective spacing is to start by placing front foot (power leg) two foot-lengths from the starting line and the rear foot (quick leg) another foot length between the front and rear feet. Spacing can be adjusted from there based on comfort, existing strength levels, etc.

Shoulder Position at the Start

The position of the shoulders while in the starting is a subject for debate. Some coaches instruct their athletes to bring their shoulders out slightly past their hands, thus bringing the center of mass closer to the starting line. First off, at some football combines, this movement is illegal so check with an official at your combine if you prefer to use this technique.
I have found that leaning forward at the line often makes athletes fall forward at the start. So, their first step is catching and trying to control their body instead exploding out. They are actually trying to keep their feet underneath them to avoid falling forward and not creating horizontal velocity during the drive phase.
Your thumbs should be directly under your shoulders. This maximizes the distance of the shoulders from the ground. The shoulders should be directly over or slightly behind the hands. This will keep the hips from moving forward and upward on the set command. The quick side, (rear) knee should be in contact with the ground.

Leg Angles (Starting Position / 3-point stance)

The front knee angle should be between 90 and 110 degrees, while the rear leg angle should be between 120 and 135 degrees. Existing strength levels will be the primary factor determining whether your knee angles are closer to 90 and 120 degrees, versus 110 and 135 degrees. This means that weaker athletes will have the hips higher in the air (closer to 120 and 135).
Evidence suggests that angles in this range allow for the greatest stretch reflex in the hamstrings, as well as the greatest amount of velocity when exiting the starting line. It is important that you know your limitations. Even advanced male athletes, at the high school level, usually do not have the strength and power capabilities to successfully use lower knee angles when in the set position. A tell tale sign of poor acceleration mechanics and/or body angles is seen when an athlete becomes completely upright within the first few steps of a race. Rapidly decreasing shin angles are the most obvious evidence of limited strength and power output.

Head Alignment

You have probably seen and heard many different ways to align your head while in the 3-point stance. Some coaches want you to keep your head down and looking back at your legs at the start. Other coaches believe that you should have your head up so that your eyes are looking forward. This may work on the football field since you need to see the ball snapped and know what's happening on the field, but we are looking to your body in the best 'exiting' position possible.
Your head position should be properly aligned with your spine (so it is straight). Looking down and back normally causes the athlete to break at the hips while driving out while trying to maintain that position. Also, another problem that I have seen with trying to keep the head down is that it can cause the athlete to lean too far forward while in the starting position and it causes a breaking of the hips in the drive phase.

Hip Height

Hips should be above the shoulders. The degree of height above the shoulder will affect knee and hip angles, thus affecting force application and acceleration. The higher your hips the more weight you can shift to the hands.
Make sure that your hips aren't too high or you won't be able to support all the weight and your first step off of the starting line will be short almost 'catching' your body from falling. If your hips are too low, you could have too much weight back where your body can't explode as ideally as you would like to overcome inertia. Also, you are most likely to 'pop' straight up on your first step, negating your acceleration phase.

Hand Placement

Hands should be placed about shoulder width apart to start. The hands should also be arched, so that only the fingertips are actually touching the ground. Doing this ensures that you will not place too much weight on your arms which forces your legs to move the majority of your body’s mass. The thumb and index finger are going to take on the majority of the weight. They will also run parallel with the starting line.
Your quick side hand is going to be the hand that is going to be left on the ground supporting during the set position. Your power side hand will be raised off of the ground. Keep the power side arm at 90 degrees with that hand by your hip. Keeping your power side arm at 90 degrees at the starting position will enable you to come through with that arm quickly when driving out. The biggest reason to keep that arm at 90 degrees at the starting position is if your 40 yard time is being timed by a stop watch and not electronically.
If someone is manually timing your 40 yard run with a stop watch, they are going on your first movement. If your power side arm is up to 120 degrees or so, it is easier to see that arm move first and it won't be as noticeable if it is kept at 90 degrees. So, it might be slight time saver, but as you know, every little bit helps.

Focus
Most football combines time their 40 yard runs electronically or FAT (fully automated timing). One of the easiest ways for them to time is to have the electronic timing device connected to a gun, when the gun fires, the timing starts. So, here is a tip if you are getting your 40 timed by your reaction to the gun.
There are two things you can focus on. One is to focus on a motor set, which means to focus on your first movement, not the gun. Second, would be a sensory set. This means that you would focus your attention on the starter’s gun. Focusing on the gun isn’t necessary because you are going to hear it and react to it whether you are focusing on it or not.
By focusing on a sensory set as opposed to a motor set, you are likely to get a slower reaction time to the gun. By waiting to react to the gun, you have to wait to hear the gun, and then your brain has to acknowledge the sound of the gun, and then send a signal to your muscles to react to the gun. This might only take .10, but it is time you cannot afford to waste. Instead, you should focus on driving the power side arm (if your right leg is forward, then drive your right arm) up as soon as the gun goes off. This will help bring your quick side leg through as well as help you drive through your power side leg.
